Destination Liberia

Liberia is a growing town situated close to the Nicaraguan border on the plains of Guanacaste, Costa Rica. Its lands of volcanic origin features lots of cattle farms, wide streets, and old adobe houses that represent a colonial style. Well known as the "white city" because of the white streets that it had before, Liberia combines old buildings and old traditions with a more modern style. New shopping malls, and the Daniel Oduber International Airport (LIR) which offers direct flights to the US and Canada show the urban development of Liberia. Visitors can enjoy the view of the majestic volcano Rincon de la Vieja or visit one of the conservation parks that surround this area, such as the Guanacaste, Santa Rosa, Rincon de la Vieja and Palo Verde National Parks.

This area offers a lot of attractions and activities in a very traditional ambiance.

National Parks in Guanacaste preserve a wide variety of fauna and plants. A good example is the Rincon de la Vieja National Park, which protects 14,083-hectare of land, more than 300 species of birds, some mammals, orchids and plants and the Rincon de la Vieja Volcano. The Palo Verde National Park is situated on the chores of the Tempisque River, one of the biggest rivers in Costa Rica. One of the main attractions of the area in and around Liberia is the closeness to many beautiful beaches and volcanoes such as Tamarindo, Samara, Flamingo, Ocotal and Hermosa beaches and Orosi, Miravalles and Tenorio Volcanoes.
