Itinerary Coast to Coast Package
Day 1: San Jose
At your arrival, one of our drivers will be waiting for you at the exit of the airport with a sign reading your name. He will take you to your Hotel in the Central Valley. Overnight in the Central Valley.
Day 2: San Jose/Pacuare/Puerto Viejo
Early in the morning you will be picked up at your hotel to enjoy a full day of river rafting on the Pacuare River. You will be offered a delicious traditional Costa Rican breakfast along the way. Once your group of rafters arrive at the verdant banks of the Pacuare River, the professional guides will instruct you on paddling techniques and safety procedures before you don your helmets, grab your paddles and climb aboard the inflatable rafts for an unforgettable adventure. The Pacuare is a swift flowing river that offers visitors a unique and exciting rafting experience within one of Costa Rica’s most unspoiled wilderness areas. The river is a class III & IV. Lunch on the way. At the end of your rafting trip you may change into dry warm clothes and pick up your luggage to continue your trip towards the Caribbean coast. You will pick up a 4x4 rental car at the Siquirres take out point of the rafting trip. From Siquirres you may drive to Puerto Viejo on the Caribbean coast, which will be approximately 2 hours. Once in Puerto Viejo you will easily find your Hotel. Overnight in Puerto Viejo.
Day 3-4: Puerto Viejo
After breakfast, you will have free time to enjoy the hotel facilities and surrounding areas. Puerto Viejo's Salsa Brava beach is very famous for surfing and its golden sandy beaches with crystal clear water, its tropical vegetation and other attractions such as the Cahuita National Park, the Talamanca Indian Reserve and the Gandoca Manzanillo Wildlife Refuge. Horseback tours in the area, as well as snorkeling, diving, mountain biking, kayaking or boogie boarding are some of the activities that travelers can enjoy in Puerto Viejo. There are many colorful bars, restaurants and hotels. Nighlife is exciting, and you can hear music during the day and at night in most areas of town. Overnight in Puerto Viejo.
Day 5: Puerto Viejo/Arenal
After breakfast and check out from your Hotel, you may continue your trip towards La Fortuna, Arenal. The drive from Puerto Viejo to Arenal is approximately 5 hours. Just a few minutes away from La Fortuna, Arenal stands Costa Rica's most active volcano: the majestic Arenal! The Arenal Volcano is a regularly spewing smoke and ashes. At the base of this awesome conic-shaped volcano, travelers will find the Arenal Lake which is the second largest manmade lake in Central America. Overnight in Arenal.
Day 6-7: Arenal
After breakfast, you will have free time to enjoy the hotel facilities and surrounding areas. Visitors of La Fortuna can enjoy the panoramic view of the Arenal Volcano, relax in the thermal waters, hike along the trail that will take you around the mountains, rent a bike or visit the restaurants, souvenir stores and hotels that La Fortuna offers. This town also has other great attractions like the La Catarata de la Fortuna, a beautiful waterfall that falls from a height of 229 feet (70 meters), and stunning lush forest, rare orchids, animal watching and some water sports on Lake Arenal. Overnight in Arenal.
Day 8: Arenal/Monteverde
After a relaxed breakfast and check out from your Hotel, you may drive towards the Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve. The drive is approximately 4 hours. In Monteverde travelers can enjoy the wonderful view of the cloud forest that surrounds the whole area, and in which more than 400 species of birds and more than 3000 species of plants have been discovered. Or enjoy the view of the Gulf of Nicoya from the distance, or swim in the cold water of the San Luis waterfall, visit the famous cheese factory, hike to the top of Cerro Amigos, or walk to one of the viewpoints where it is possible to see the Arenal Volcano. Upon arrival in Monteverde, you will find that much of this village remains untouched by modernity, and most of the people here still lead rural lives, although there are many elegant restaurants, hotels, banks, souvenir shops and cafes. Overnight in Monteverde.
Day 9-10: Monteverde
After breakfast, you will have free time to enjoy the hotel facilities and surrounding areas. Overnight in Monteverde.
Day 11: Monteverde/Samara
After a relaxed breakfast and check out from your Hotel, you may drive towards the beaches of Samara on the North Pacific. The drive is approximately 4 hours. Upon arrival to the Pacific coast you may enjoy the wonderful long stretches of white sanded beaches and warm emerald waters. Overnight in Samara.
Day 12-13: Samara
Swimming in the warm ocean, snorkeling, sailing, kayaking, boogie boarding, horseback riding, scuba diving or just relaxing are some activities you may enjoy in Samara and the beaches which are close-by. Samara also offers paragliding, waterfall visits and canopy tours. The submarine adventure is very exciting; if you go diving or snorkeling at the offshore coral reef, you can find schools of yellow jacks, sardines and manta rays, observe the dolphins, and the nesting of Sea Turtles.
Day 14: Samara/San Jose/Departure
After breakfast, you may drive to the International Juan Santamaria Airport in San Jose. The drive is 5 hours. You may drop off your rental car at the airport. Check in for International flights are 2 hours prior to the departure time.
