Mawamba Lodge

Beautifully framed by the shimmering Caribbean Sea and the calm waters of the Tortuguero Lagoon, the Mawamba Lodge is nestled within 15 pristine acres on Costa Rica’s northern Atlantic coast. The Mawamba Lodge’s beautiful gardens and rustic accommodations blend with the exuberant jungle vegetation, exotic birds and wildlife. Guests may enjoy a stroll through private nature trails that feature an open sky butterfly farm and a natural abundance of plant and animal species. Dining options include two family-style restaurants serving international and local Caribbean spiced cuisine.

Guest accommodations at the Mawamba Lodge consist of 36 comfortable rooms with private bathrooms, hot water, ceiling fans and chairs for a pleasant, relaxing evening. Activities and tours at the Mawamba Lodge include taking a boat ride through the Tortuguero Canals, a navigable network of lakes and canals that offer visitors some of Costa Rica’s most stunning variety of plant, animal and marine life. Other activities are excursions to Tortuguero National Park, the town center and the Caribbean Conservation Corporation (CCC). From July to September, night tours take visitors to search for nesting Green Turtles.
