Montezuma, Costa RicaDestination MontezumaMontezuma is a small town located in the Puntarenas province in Costa Rica. Situated in the Nicoya Gulf, Montezuma is very famous for its interesting culture, beautiful beaches, waterfalls, lively nightlife and breathtaking neighboring attractions such as the Tambor, Santa Teresa, Mazanillo and Mal Pais beaches, Cabo Blanco National Park, and the town of Cobano. Montezuma is an old fishing village; nowadays is a great option to hangout for young foreign travelers, who enjoy its relaxing and laid back lifestyle. The best time to visit Montezuma and its surroundings are during the dry season from November til April. During the rainy season many of the dirt roads require a 4x4 vehicle, which can be rented in San Jose or Tambor. The town of Cobano is just few minutes away; here visitors can find more services such as pharmacies, banks, supermarkets, additional lodging options and more. This area offers a lot of attractions and activities in a very lied-back ambiance which combines nature, beauty and adventure. Montezuma offers a lot of choices of activities: snorkeling around Cabulla Island, diving Tortuga Island, fishing, hiking or riding a horse to the waterfalls, and zip lines. Surfing in Montezuma, Santa Teresa, Mal Pais, Tambor, Manzanillo and Cabulla is one of the main attractions. Playa Grande is a nude beach and a great surf spot located just thirty minutes north of Montezuma. The Cabo Blanco National Park is just few minutes away, this Park was the first National Park established in Costa Rica and features 1,172 hectares of mixed forest, which is classified as moist tropical forest. Marine life here is very diverse: reef, humpback whales, orcas turtles and other spectacular animal species abound here. |
